8 Questions answered About Interior CGI Rendering
If you're an interior designer or property developer, chances are you've heard of interior CGI rendering. But what exactly is it? And how can it benefit your business? In this blog post, I’ll answer some of the most commonly asked questions about interior CGI rendering.
So, without further ado, let's get started!
1.What is Interior CGI Rendering?
Interior CGI rendering is the process of creating a realistic 3D image of an interior space. This is usually done using computer software such as 3ds Max or SketchUp. The purpose of interior CGI rendering is to give clients a realistic idea of what the space will look like once it's been completed. For my CGI’s I use 3ds Max and Corona Renderer.
2. How is Interior CGI Rendering different from traditional renderings?
Traditional renderings are usually created by hand, which can be time-consuming and expensive. Additionally, traditional renderings often lack the level of detail and realism that CGI renderings can provide. Ultimately it’s up to what the interior designer prefers and how they would like to present their design scheme to their client.
3. What are the benefits of Interior CGI Rendering?
There are many benefits of interior CGI rendering, including:
• Allowing you to make changes to the design before construction begins, which can save time and money.
• Helping you and your client to visualise the completed space, which can be helpful when making decisions about finishes and furnishings.
• Allowing you to create multiple versions of the same space, which can be useful when trying to appeal to different audiences.
• Giving you the ability to create "photo-realistic" images that look like real photographs, which can be used in marketing materials such as brochures, website and social media.

4. How much does Interior CGI Rendering cost?
The cost of interior CGI rendering varies depending on factors such as the size and complexity of the space, the level of detail required, the software used and if whether or not you are engaging with a freelance specialist or a studio with a team of people. Generally my prices start at approx. £500 to model a good size living room and includes 1 render and 2 light revisions. More renders of the same space are scaled down to £150 for setup, refinement and post production time.
5. How long does Interior CGI Rendering take?
Again, this depends on factors such as the size and complexity of the space being rendered as well as the level of detail required. However, most designers will be able to complete a simple room set up can in 1-2 days but in reality when you need to get client comments in can take a week or so. More complex spaces may take longer. Generally my lead time for one room is a week any more rooms and it’s 2-3 weeks.
6. Do I need any special skills or training to create an Interior CGI Render?
No, not really - all you need is access to computer software such as 3ds Max or SketchUp and an understanding of basic 3D modelling concepts. It obviously helps if you are able to invest in training as they aren’t the easiest software to navigate and understand. An eye for detail and composition is also a must to be successful. If you're not sure where to start but are interested in having a go, there are plenty of online tutorials that can help get you up to speed quickly - just do a quick search on YouTube. Alternatively, you could hire a professional rendering company or freelancer like me to take care of everything for you - leaving you free to focus on other aspects of your business.
7 . What if I'm not happy with the results?
When you hire me to do your renders, I will be in constant contact with you and will be sharing low res images of the renders for you to comment on before sending the final high res images. This is where you are able to give comments and feedback; it’s the perfect time to tell me if you want something moved, change the colour or texture of something etc so by the end of the process you are happy with the results.
Ultimately I want you to be happy with the images, because not only will that mean you are more likely to come back and use my services again, but hopefully you will spread the word about how good I am so it is in my interest to get it right!
8 . How do I get started working with you?
If you're interested in getting interior CGI renders please do feel free to email me on hello @ studioercra.com and give a short description of what you would like rendered. If you have any moodboard images that you can send to me as well that would be super helpful. From there I’ll be able to give you a quote and give you guidance on what information I would need to start your project. You can also contact me through my contact form here.
